The ball, an almost universal social phenomenon whether in palaces, assembly halls or private houses, has a multitude of historical facets.
As its name suggests, the ball is dedicated to the pleasure of dancing in various forms and styles. A special, festively designed form of public engagement, it is also a setting for demonstrations of princely power, staged rituals, painstakingly controlled etiquette and meticulous self-presentation. 5th Historical Dance SymposiumBurg Rothenfels am Main10 - 14 June 2020
In 2004, the 1st Rothenfels Dance Symposium was initiated by Markus Lehner and Uwe Schlottermüller. The inspiration for the Symposium came from the Arbeau Conference of 1988 in Burg Rothenfels and the international conference "Terpsichore 1450 - 1900" in Ghent. Burg Rothenfels am Main, for decades now one of the centres of historical dance in southern Germany, has proved to be an ideal conference location. ... (Lire l'article)
